Changing your lipstick color will dramatically change your look:
1. Nude
2. Fuchsia
3. Bright coral orange
4. Aniline
5. True red
6. Burgundy
How can I make my lips look fuller?
Use a light lip gloss color, which will give your lips a 3-D effect, making them look fuller. You can also use a natural-color lip liner to extend the line to the corners of your lips (be careful not to line over your natural line). Then choose a lipstick close to the color of the liner and finish with a light lip gloss on top. There are also lip glosses and lipsticks that give an instant plump and might last up to five hours. I don’t promise you any miracles, but you might see a slightly fuller upper lip.
Darker-shade lipsticks make your lips look smaller, but that can look really cool. Tap semimatte deep red lipstick on your lips, keep your eye makeup light using black mascara, and add some blush for a really great look. Forget routines, myths, and clichés. Try new things. Don’t flatten anymore.
How do lip plumpers work?
My favorite lip plumper is TaberCo’s Naked Kiss, which was the first lip-plumping product on the U.S. market, around ten years ago. Now there are many others. Their common ingredient is a vitamin B6 derivative that encourages increased blood circulation in the whole lip area and causes a tingling sensation (you really feel it working!). The results vary. For some they work like a charm; others see few effects.
My lips are very full. How can I make them look smaller?
Avoid bright colors or glosses. Keep the lips very natural and semimatte. All nude colors are a good choice. Put the emphasis on the eyes.
Why do my lips get dry?
Lips don’t have sweat and sebaceous glands and oils to keep the skin smooth and regulate temperature. Also, the layers of skin on your lips are very thin compared to your facial skin. (More about this in chapter 30, “Winter Makeup and Skin Care.”)
My lipstick bleeds into the small lines around my lips—help!
Try using a lip primer and line your lips carefully before adding lipstick.
